How The Zoom Works
Your iPhone switches lenses on its own as the zoom climbs, so the first part of the range is optical on any phone with a telephoto camera and the rest is a digital crop. The app stops at 25x, which is where a hand-held picture stops being worth looking at.

Night Mode, Honestly
It turns on the camera's low-light boost and pushes the exposure two stops. It brightens a dim scene. It is not night vision and it will not show you anything in the dark.

Birdwatching, concerts and matches from the cheap seats, reading a sign or a menu board across a street, checking a roof or a gutter from the ground, spotting a boat or a plane, wildlife from a safe distance.

What's new in 1.3
Zooming into a frozen frame and then pinching back out used to strand the picture off-screen. Panning is only allowed while you are zoomed in, so once the scale came back to 1x the photo stayed wherever you had dragged it and dragging did nothing — only a double-tap brought it back, and nothing tells you that. The pan is now bounded by the frame at every scale, so the picture cannot leave it and coming back to 1x always recentres. The App Store page also carried its terms and privacy links twice, and said nothing about where the free plan ends. It now says: 8x free, 25x with Pro or a short ad, and saved photos resized to 1600 px unless you are on Pro.
