Privacy Policy

for Step As ME (Fit As 2)

Last updated: 2026-11-01

This policy covers Step As ME, on iPhone and iPad (App Store) and on Android (Google Play). The short version: Step As ME does not ask you to create an account, and your data stays on your device.

What we collect

Nothing you log or enter is sent to us. We have no servers holding your content and no way to read it. The app keeps a small amount of data on your device, in its own storage: on iPhone, your daily goal, your streak, goal-day and lifetime-step counters, your settings (dark mode, the optional reminder), when your last ad reward expires, and the earliest start and latest end of the entries it wrote each day (kept for a week, to place the next entry); on Android, your daily goal, your streak and award counters, and a list of the walks you logged with the app (so you can edit or undo one). If you have device backup turned on (iCloud backup on iPhone, Google backup on Android), that data can be part of your own backup, which we cannot read either.

Health data: Apple Health and Android Health Connect

Step As ME works with Apple Health on iPhone and with Health Connect on Android. It asks for access one data type at a time, with the system's own permission sheet, and you decide which to allow. It requests only the types listed here.

iPhone: Apple Health

  • Reads: Steps.
  • Writes: Steps, Walking + running distance.

Android: Health Connect

The app declares exactly these Health Connect permissions:

  • android.permission.health.READ_STEPS: read Steps.
  • android.permission.health.WRITE_STEPS: write Steps.
  • android.permission.health.WRITE_DISTANCE: write Distance.

Why the app reads steps

On iPhone, to show today's total, your streak, the weekly chart and the 30-day calendar, counting steps from every source (your iPhone, a watch, other apps), not only this app; to find the free minutes of today (it reads the start and end times of today's step samples) so a new entry is not written over steps your iPhone or watch already counted; and to confirm, a few seconds after writing, that Health counted the entry (the result is only shown to you, it is not stored). On Android, to show today's step total, to find free minutes in the day so a new entry does not land on steps your phone or watch already counted, and to confirm a few seconds after writing that Health Connect counted the entry. Reading is limited to this and nothing else.

What happens to your health data

  • It stays in Apple Health or Health Connect, on your device. The app writes what you log there and reads it back; it is never uploaded to us or to any server.
  • It is never shared with anyone. Another app that reads Health or Health Connect does so under the permission you gave that app, not us.
  • It is never used for advertising, personalised ads, profiling or marketing, and the ad provider (Google AdMob) does not receive it.
  • It is never sold, and never used for anything other than what is described on this page.

Our use of information received from Health Connect adheres to the Health Connect Permissions policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Health data read from Apple Health is not used for advertising or data mining and is not disclosed to third parties.

Turn it off, or delete it

  • iPhone: in the Health app, tap your picture, then Privacy, then Apps, choose Step As ME and turn the types off (or Settings, Privacy & Security, Health). The app has no delete of its own: to remove an entry, open the data type in the Health app and delete it there.
  • Android: in Settings, search for “Health Connect”, open App permissions, choose Step As ME and remove the permissions; “Delete app data” there removes what the app wrote. You can also undo an entry inside the app.
  • Health data written by other apps or by your device is never modified or deleted by Step As ME.
  • Uninstalling the app removes what the app stored itself. Entries it already wrote to Apple Health or Health Connect stay there until you delete them there.

Other permissions

Apart from health data (above), Step As ME requests these:

  • Notifications, only if you turn on “Daily Streak Reminder” in Settings (iPhone): one reminder a day, scheduled on your device.
  • On Android: network access, to load ads and check purchases, and the advertising ID permission that Google AdMob uses.

It does not ask for your location, contacts, camera, microphone or photos.

On iPhone the app also asks for permission to track (Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt). Saying no is fine and the app keeps working — you will see ads that are not personalised.

Advertising

Apps that show ads use Google AdMob. AdMob may process a device identifier and coarse location to select an ad and to count impressions. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we show Google's consent form before any personalised ad is requested; if you decline, ads are contextual only. On iOS, we honour your App Tracking Transparency choice. The app itself requests no location permission: AdMob infers an approximate location (city or region) from your IP address. AdMob never receives your health data. See how Google uses data from apps that use its services.

Purchases

Purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card, your address or your name — only an anonymous receipt telling the app that a purchase is valid. To manage or cancel a subscription, use Settings on your device; cancelling there is the only thing that stops a renewal.

Analytics and crash reports

We use no third-party analytics SDK. We do see the aggregate, anonymous crash and usage reports that Apple and Google provide to every developer, and only if you have opted into sharing them at the operating-system level.

Children

Our apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, write to us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or erase on request — deleting the app removes everything it stored itself (entries already in Apple Health or Health Connect stay there until you delete them there). If you are in the EEA or UK (GDPR) or in California (CCPA/CPRA) and want to exercise a right regarding advertising identifiers, contact us and we will help you raise it with the relevant ad network.

This website and cookies

This website sets no cookies and uses no local storage, analytics, tracking pixels, embedded third-party content or contact forms, so there is nothing to consent to and no cookie banner. Fonts and images are served from this same domain. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes your IP address and request data in transient server logs to deliver the pages and protect them from abuse, under its privacy policy.

Legal basis and retention

If you email us we use your message only to answer it (legitimate interest, GDPR art. 6(1)(f), or steps you ask for under art. 6(1)(b)) and delete it once the matter is closed, unless the law requires us to keep it. Personalised ads in our apps rely on your consent (art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time from the app's privacy settings or your device settings. Google and Cloudflare may process data outside the EU under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Your GDPR rights

You can ask for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability or object to processing by writing to the email above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Italy, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.

Changes

If this policy changes we update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
