Watch Faces Free Apple Watch wallpapers: browse, save and set one
Watch Faces has 1,135 ready-made backgrounds in 44 collections, all free and all stored inside the app, so they work offline. Open one, tap the download button, save the image from the share sheet, then choose it for the Photos face in Apple's Watch app.

The Gallery tab, titled Watch Faces, shows each collection as a row you scroll sideways. Tap a collection's title to see it as a grid. Each thumbnail sits inside a watch-frame mockup, which is more useful than it sounds: a wallpaper that looks great full-screen can look busy once it's shrunk behind a watch bezel.

Other themes include Italy, Spain, Brazil, the four seasons, Cats, Dogs, Astronaut, Samurai, Monster, Motorbike, Skull, color collections such as Blue, Pink or Purple, and food from Sushi to Pizza. A plain black background is just a color, not a collection, so it will not turn up in that list. Type in the search bar to filter collections by name; it matches collection names, not individual pictures.
How do I put a wallpaper on my Apple Watch?
- Open the Gallery tab and tap a collection, then a wallpaper.
- Tap the large download button at the bottom (the arrow icon; it has no text). The question mark at the top right opens a short picture tutorial.
- The iOS share sheet opens. Choose the option to save the image to your photo library, or send it somewhere else.
- On your iPhone, open Apple's Watch app, add or edit the Photos face and choose the saved wallpaper.
Free Apple Watch faces with no subscription?
Yes, in the sense that actually matters: no wallpaper is locked, and you never need a subscription to use one. The free version does have limits, worth knowing up front.
- 5 exports per calendar month in total. A gallery download counts as soon as the share sheet opens, even if you cancel, and designer exports share the same 5. Remaining exports this month: above the button shows what is left.
- Video ads on some downloads. Your first three downloads never play one. After that, the 4th, 7th, 10th download and so on play a short video first, and The next download plays a short video ad. Premium removes them. warns you in advance.
- Banner ads at the top of the gallery, each collection and each wallpaper.
When you reach the limit you see Export Limit Reached with an Upgrade to Premium option. Premium, as a subscription or a one-time purchase when offered, removes the limit and all ads. If you don't want it, the counter starts again at the beginning of the next calendar month.
Will a gallery wallpaper fit my watch?
The gallery images are squares, mostly 512×512 pixels, and the watch screen is taller than it is wide. The Photos face fills the screen by trimming the left and right edges, so wallpapers with the main subject in the middle work well. If you want an exact fit for your case size, make the background in the Designer tab instead.
