Poker Timer: frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions players actually ask at the table: how the clock behaves when the screen locks, what is free, and where the app draws the line.
Will the clock drift if the phone rings or the screen locks?
No. The remaining time is computed from the moment the level ends, not by counting ticks, so a call or a locked screen never shifts it; come back and it shows the right time, having already caught up any level that ended while you were away. The screen only stays awake because Keep Screen On During Tournament is on by default.
Can I build my own blind structure?
Yes. Tap + on the home list and set small blind, big blind, ante and minutes for every level (1 to 180 minutes each), and add breaks where you want them. The free version keeps one custom structure; Pro allows as many as you like. Of the five built-in structures, three are free and two need Pro or a watched ad per session.
What if we skip a level by accident?
Tap Undo right away: it puts back the exact level and seconds that were left. The button is only offered for 5 seconds after Skip or Previous, so act quickly. Restart asks for confirmation and cannot be undone.
What happens if the app is closed in the middle of a tournament?
The tournament is not lost. The home screen shows a Resume row with the saved level and time left, and the clock reopens there, paused, until you tap RESUME. Time that passed while the app was fully closed is not counted, so check the clock against the table before you resume.
How does the payout split work?
Open the Payout Helper, set the number of players with the stepper (1 to 200), type the buy-in and choose the paid places. The app suggests places from the field size (up to 5; you can pick 6) and uses fixed home-game percentages. Amounts are worked in whole cents and always add up exactly to the pot. It needs Pro, or one watched ad per session.
What is free and what does Pro add?
Free: the full clock, Turbo, Standard and Deepstack, one custom structure, the History and the Classic Green theme. Pro adds unlimited structures, Hyper-Turbo and Long Weekend, the Payout Helper, the Midnight and Crimson themes, and removes ads. A free user can unlock the two bonus structures or the Payout Helper for the current session by watching an ad.
Does it need internet?
Not for the game itself: the clock, structures, editor, payout maths and History run offline, with no account. Ads, buying or restoring Pro, the watch-an-ad unlock and the place name for Add Location need a connection.
Will we hear the blinds go up with the iPhone on silent?
Yes, while the app is open on the clock. Its tones play as media audio, which the silent switch does not mute, as long as the volume is up and Sound Alerts is on. In the background, level changes arrive as notifications, which follow your normal notification and silent settings.
When does the warning sound play?
By default 30 seconds before the level ends, and the countdown changes colour at the same moment. You can move it between 5 and 120 seconds, in 5-second steps, in Settings under Sound & Haptics.
Does the app show the blinds on the Lock Screen?
Yes. Once the clock has started, a Live Activity shows the level, ante, next level and a countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. It cannot switch levels by itself while the app is suspended, so the app also sends a notification at each level change.
Can I show the clock on a TV?
There is no TV app or special external display mode. You can mirror the iPhone or iPad screen to a TV with the system's Screen Mirroring, which shows the same clock.
Can it calculate a blind structure from our chip stacks and number of players?
No. It gives you five ready-made structures and an editor where you type the blinds, antes, durations and breaks yourself. There is no structure generator and no chip colour-up calculator.
Does it track players, rebuys or chip counts?
No. There is no seating, no eliminations, no rebuys or add-ons and no league points. In History you can note one winner, the number of players and the buy-in.
What happens when the last level ends?
The clock stops with Tournament Complete, saves the game to History and offers Split the Prize Pool. It does not keep raising blinds, so if your game might run long, add extra levels to your structure or use +1:00.
Can I run two tournaments at once?
No. Only one tournament can be in progress at a time.
Why does it ask for my location?
Only when you tap Add Location on a saved tournament, to remember where you played. It takes a single reading and stops; nothing runs in the background, and Remove Location deletes it.
Why does it ask to track me?
The question only decides whether ads in the free version can be personalised. If you decline, ads are non-personalised and everything else works the same.
Is my data synced to iCloud or exportable?
No. Structures and History stay on the device and are included in its normal backup. There is no iCloud sync, sharing or export.
Is there a free trial of Pro?
Do not count on one. The paywall only shows a trial line if the App Store reports an introductory offer your Apple ID is eligible for. You can restore a previous purchase with Restore Purchases in Settings.
