Dart Scoreboard: frequently asked questions

Straight answers, pulled from actually playing with it: how it scores darts, what's free, and where it just won't help you.

Does it know the darts rules, or do I still have to check?
It knows them. It subtracts every visit, marks a bust when you go below zero, and with double-out on it also busts a visit that leaves exactly 1 or that reaches zero without finishing on a double or the bullseye. A busted visit leaves your score where it was.
Does it tell me the finish?
Yes. A double-out checkout table for every score from 170 down to 2 is built in, and the suggested darts appear above the keypad as soon as your score is inside the finish range, for example T20 T20 Bull on 170 or T20 T19 D12 on 141. For the few scores with no three-dart finish, such as 169, it shows nothing.
Someone entered the wrong score. Can we go back?
Yes. Undo Last Visit restores the whole board exactly as it was before the last visit, every player's score, whose turn it is and the stats included. You can tap it again to go back further, one visit at a time, without restarting the leg.
Which darts formats does it handle?
501, 301, 701 and 1001, each with double-out on or off, plus Cricket with marks, points and closed numbers. You can play from a single leg up to 9 legs a set and 5 sets a match.
What stats does it keep, and which are free?
Free for everyone: 3-dart average, highest visit, and career stats per player (matches, win rate, 180s, tons, best visit, best checkout, checkout percentage and legs won). The first-9 average and checkout percentage on each end-of-match summary are Pro, or opened for the session by watching one ad. Nothing is uploaded; it all stays on the phone.
What is free and what does Pro add?
Free gives you 501, 301, 701 and 1001 for two players, the checkout hints, undo, the core stats and your five most recent matches. Pro adds Cricket, a third and fourth player, the complete history, the advanced match stats and the Midnight and Tungsten themes, and it removes the ads.
Is Cricket free?
Not permanently. A free player can tap the locked Cricket tile and choose Watch an Ad to Unlock; Cricket and the advanced match stats then stay open until the app is closed. Pro unlocks Cricket for good with no ads.
Can three or four people play without Pro?
No. The free version is limited to two player slots, and tapping Add Player for a third one opens the Pro screen. With Pro you can have up to four.
Can I play straight out, without finishing on a double?
Yes. Turn Double Out off before you tap Start Match. Then any dart that brings you to exactly zero wins the leg, and only going below zero is a bust.
Why is there no checkout suggestion on some scores?
Because no three-dart double-out finish exists for them. On a real board 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159 cannot be checked out in one visit, nor can 1, so the app leaves the suggestion line empty rather than show something wrong.
Does it need an internet connection?
No. Scoring, checkout hints, undo, stats and match history all run on the device. The free version uses the connection only to load ads and for the tracking prompt.
Why does it ask to track me?
Just for ads in the free version. Say no on the App Tracking Transparency prompt and you'll still see ads, just generic ones instead of personalised. Tapping no changes nothing about how a game gets scored.
Are my matches uploaded or synced?
No. Matches are stored in a local database on the device. There is no account, no server and no cloud sync, so if you delete the app, the history goes with it.
Can it score with the camera or by voice?
No. There is no camera scoring and no voice input. You tap each dart on a large keypad designed to be used quickly between throws.
Can I play against someone online?
No. It is a scoreboard for players sharing one real board and one iPhone or iPad. There is no online play and no league management.
Will ads interrupt a leg?
No. No ad appears on the match screen. In the free version a full-screen ad can appear after a match ends, and banners appear on the setup, settings, history and stats screens. Pro removes them all.
Will my phone lock between throws?
No, not with a match open, provided Keep screen awake during a game is on in Settings — it's on by default. Leave the match screen and ordinary auto-lock comes straight back.
What happens to my matches if I quit halfway?
Closing a match with the cross at the top asks you to confirm with Quit Match, and that match is not saved to history. Only finished matches are kept.
What happens if my Pro subscription ends?
Your saved matches stay. The app goes back to the Classic theme and locks Cricket, the extra players, the older history entries and the advanced match stats again, until Pro is active or you use the ad unlock for a session.
