Darts checkout chart: every finish from 170, and when there is none
170 (T20, T20, Bull) is the highest checkout there is, and every score from 170 down to 2 has a finish except seven of them: 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 and 159. Memorising the printed chart takes most people a while, so the app carries the whole table and shows the finish for whatever you're left on, right above the keypad.
How darts checkouts work
A checkout is the visit that takes your score to exactly zero. Under double-out the last dart has to be a double or the bullseye, which counts as double 25. That is why a checkout chart lists routes that always end on D-something or Bull.
The maximum is 170 because the biggest possible visit that ends on a double is two treble 20s and the bullseye: 60 + 60 + 50. Anything above 170 cannot be finished in one visit.
The scores you cannot check out
Between 2 and 170, seven scores have no three-dart double-out finish on a real board: 159, 162, 163, 165, 166, 168 and 169. On those you have to score something and leave a finish for the next visit. The score 1 cannot be finished at all under double-out, which is why leaving 1 is a bust.

The built-in table covers 162 scores: 21 that finish with one dart, 81 with two and 60 that need all three. The highest two-dart finish is 110.
How the app picks a route
For each score the table was worked out once by checking every dart a real board allows, preferring the fewest darts and then the highest-scoring darts. On big finishes that gives the routes you see on standard charts, like T20 T20 Bull for 170.
On small scores the same rule favours trebles, so the app may suggest a route that leaves a small double. For 60 it shows T18, D3, where many players would throw 20 and then D20. Both are valid; treat the suggestion as one correct way out, not the only one.
How to see your checkout in Dart Scoreboard
- Start a 501, 301, 701 or 1001 match with Double Out on.
- Play normally. As soon as the current player's score is 170 or less and has a finish, a Checkout line appears above the keypad with the suggested darts.
- Throw, then tap the darts you actually hit. If the finish went in, the leg is won; if not, the line updates to the new score.
- On 169, 168, 166, 165, 163, 162 or 159 the line stays hidden: there is no finish to show.
Printed chart or app?
A printed chart's fine for learning routes on the sofa. Mid-game, the app is the better choice — it already knows the score, no hunting a poster for the right line between throws. The checkout hints are free and work with no signal at all.
