Cyanuric acid pool calculator
Cyanuric acid (CYA, stabilizer) needs 1 g per cubic metre for every ppm you add, so a 25 m³ pool going from 20 to 50 ppm takes 750 g. In US units that is 13.4 oz per 10,000 gallons for 10 ppm. The Stabilizer (CYA) product in Dosing does the sum.
How is the cyanuric acid dose calculated?
One ppm is one milligram per litre, and a cubic metre holds a thousand litres. Raising a 25 m³ pool by 1 ppm therefore needs 25 g of cyanuric acid, and by 30 ppm needs 750 g. There is no conversion factor because the product is the stabilizer itself, so the bookkeeping is exact.
Check the label of what you bought. Some stabilizers are sold as granules, others as part of a chlorine tablet, and the amount the app gives is for pure cyanuric acid.

Cyanuric acid (CYA) is 1 g per m³ for every ppm you add: 13.4 oz per 10,000 gal raises it 10 ppm. It dissolves slowly, so re-test after a few days before adding more. Follow the product label, add chemicals one at a time and never mix them.
How do I get the CYA dose in PoolDose?
- Open Dosing and set Product to Stabilizer (CYA).
- Type Pool volume (m³), or leave the volume from the Volume calculator.
- Enter Measured (ppm), your current CYA reading, and Target (ppm).
- Read the weight under Dose, with the reference rate for 10 ppm underneath.
| Pool | Change | Dose |
|---|---|---|
| 25 m³ | 20 to 50 ppm | 750 g |
| 50 m³ | 30 to 60 ppm | 1.50 kg |
| 10 m³ | 30 to 40 ppm | 100 g |
| 10,000 gal (US units) | 30 to 40 ppm | 13.4 oz |
What should I do after adding it?
Cyanuric acid dissolves slowly. Many people put the granules in a sock or skimmer basket, or dissolve them in warm water first, as the label allows, and let the pump run. Because it dissolves slowly, test again after a few days before deciding whether more is needed.
- Follow the product label and add chemicals separately, one at a time, never mixed together.
- Keep the pump running while it dissolves.
- Wait a few days, test CYA again and type the new value as Measured (ppm).
Stabilizer also changes how much free chlorine you need, so after the CYA settles check Shock level (SLAM) in Dosing, which uses your CYA reading to suggest a shock level.
