When a batch URL shortener saves you time

Shortening links one by one is fine for a post. It gets tedious fast for anything larger, such as 40 table-assignment links for a conference pasted in one at a time. A product catalog, a set of event tables, a classroom handout, a flyer campaign with a different link each: a batch tool takes the whole list and hands back the short links and QR codes together.

Batch Mode is designed for exactly that job: a list goes in, a printable set of QR codes comes out.

How to shorten a list of links

  1. Go to Settings and open Batch Mode.
  2. Under Enter URLs, paste your list. Put one link per line, or separate them with commas.
  3. Or tap Import File and choose a plain-text file with one link per line.
  4. Choose the Shortening Service for the whole batch.
  5. Tap Process All URLs. A progress bar shows how many are done, and Results lists each short link.
  6. Tap Export and choose the Export Format: Single PDF with all QR codes or ZIP of individual images.

Use Clear All to empty the list and start a new batch.

PDF print pack or ZIP?

Batch Mode export formats
FormatWhat you getGood for
PDFOne document with a cover, an index and your QR codes in a grid, list or card layoutPrinting table cards, labels or a handout in one go
ZIPOne image file per QR codeHanding codes to a designer or dropping them into separate layouts

In the print pack you can give the PDF a title and pick the layout before generating it.

Which service should you use for a batch?

Any of the ten works. is.gd and v.gd are a solid default, since they need no key and nothing can go wrong with a forgotten login. If your team already pays for Bit.ly or Rebrandly, add your key in Settings first, so the batch lands in that account and any click numbers show up on its dashboard.

One snag to watch for: each service caps how many links it accepts in a short burst. If some fail, the summary tells you how many succeeded and how many failed, so you can run just the failed ones again instead of starting over.

Tips for large batches

  • Clean the list first: one link per line, no blank lines, no text around the link.
  • Check that every link opens before shortening it. A short link to a broken page is still broken.
  • If some links fail with one service, rerun just those with another.
  • After printing, use Check All Links in History from time to time to catch links that have stopped working.

Is the bulk URL shortener free?

No. Batch Mode is only in paid Premium, which also removes ads and lifts the history cap. The watch-an-ad trial does not cover Batch Mode either. Single links, one at a time, stay free with all ten services.

Questions and answers

How many URLs can I shorten at once?
The app does not set a small fixed cap; it is built for lists of hundreds of links. In practice the limit comes from the shortening service, which may slow down or refuse requests if you send too many at once.
Can I import links from a file?
Yes. Tap Import File in Batch Mode and choose a plain-text file with one link per line.
Can I shorten multiple URLs at once for free?
Not in URL Short: Batch Mode is part of paid Premium. The free version shortens one link at a time with any of the ten services.
Does each link in a batch get a QR code?
Yes. Every shortened link gets its own QR code, and you can export them all together as a PDF or as separate images in a ZIP.
