Don't Touch: questions and honest answers

These are the questions I kept seeing while using the app myself and reading what other people ran into, limits included. Each answer stands on its own, so skip to the one you need.

Does the alarm sound if the phone is on silent?
Yes. The siren is played as media audio, so the Ring/Silent switch does not touch it. What does matter is the phone's volume level: full level with Max Volume on Trigger on (the default), 75% of it if you switch that off. Turn the volume up before you arm, not after.
What sets the alarm off?
Three things, each a separate guard: the phone being moved (Motion Alarm), the charging cable being pulled out (Charger Alarm), and the phone being taken out of a pocket or bag (Pocket Alarm). You choose how sensitive the motion guard is and which sound plays.
How do I stop the siren?
Enter your 4-digit PIN on the ENTER PIN TO STOP screen. Only the correct PIN returns the app to disarmed; no other button in the app switches the siren off.
Do I find out who touched my phone?
Every trigger lands in the Intruder Log with the time and reason. A photo of the person is only taken with Pro: the front camera snaps it silently the instant the alarm fires. Free users get the log without photos.
Does it keep watching if I switch to another app?
No. No iPhone app can keep reading the motion sensor once it is in the background. Leave Don't Touch open, armed and on screen for the guards to work.
Is it a replacement for Find My?
No. It makes noise and, with Pro, takes a picture. It cannot locate, lock or erase a phone that has already been taken, so keep Find My switched on for that.
What if I forget my PIN?
Write it down somewhere safe the day you set it. The PIN is stored only as a scrambled hash, so the app genuinely cannot show it back to you, not even in a support ticket. You can set a new one at any time with Change PIN in Settings.
Why does the siren keep going when the screen locks?
The app is allowed to keep playing audio in the background, so pressing the side button does not silence an alarm that has already gone off. The siren also restarts on its own after a phone call or a Siri interruption.
Why doesn't the charger alarm go off when I unplug?
It only fires if the phone was charging at the moment you armed it. Arm with no cable connected and there is nothing to unplug, so that guard stays inactive; plug in first, then tap ARM.
Why is the pocket alarm not working?
It is off by default. Turn on Pocket Alarm in Settings. It reacts when the proximity sensor goes from covered to uncovered, so arm it with the phone already in your pocket or bag.
Will a table bump set it off?
Depends on Motion Sensitivity. Lowest setting needs a firm bump, highest needs almost nothing. A notch below Medium works well on wobbly cafe tables, where a dropped spoon can otherwise trigger a false alarm.
How long do I have to put the phone down after tapping ARM?
5 seconds by default. Change it with the stepper in Settings that reads "Arm delay: 5s", anywhere from 0 to 15 seconds.
Which alarm sounds are free?
Siren and Alarm Beep. Police Wail, Scream and Dog Bark come with Pro, or you can unlock one for the current app session by watching a short ad.
Does the app upload my photos or data?
No. The log, the settings and any Pro intruder photos are saved in the app's own storage on your phone, with no account and no cloud sync. Clear Intruder Log deletes every entry and photo.
Why does it ask for tracking permission?
Only for ads in the free version. Allowing it lets ads be personalized; declining still shows ads, just non-personalized ones. It has no effect on the alarm.
Does it drain the battery?
A bit, yes. The screen has to stay on while armed, and that's most of the drain. For longer sessions, arming it on a charger also gives you the cable guard for free.
Is there an Android or Apple Watch version?
No, iPhone only. No Android, no iPad, no Mac, no Apple Watch.
