How to convert multiple videos to MP3 at once on iPhone
On the Videos tab, tap Select, tick the videos you want, tap the Convert button, choose Format (plus Quality for MP3) and confirm. Each video turns into its own file on the Audio tab. Free caps a batch at 3 videos; Pro has none.
When batch conversion helps
This helps most when a lecture or course is split into several parts and opening each clip separately in the editor would take too long. Batch conversion turns the whole lot into audio files in one run, one file per video, and you can leave the phone on the table while it chews through them.
How to batch convert video to MP3, step by step
- Open the Videos tab and tap Select top right.
- Tick each video you want; the button at the bottom counts as you go, Convert %d Videos, so five ticks reads Convert 5 Videos.
- Tap it to open the Batch Conversion sheet.
- Pick the Format: M4A, MP3, WAV, CAF, AIFF, AIFC or MP4.
- For MP3, set the bitrate in Quality (64 or 128 kbps free; 192, 256 or 320 kbps with Pro).
- Tap convert in the sheet. Each row walks through Waiting..., Converting..., then Done, with a progress bar tracking the whole batch.
- Once it ends, the new files sit on the Audio tab, newest first.
The first batch you ever run, iOS will ask about notifications. Say yes if you want the Batch Conversion Done ping when it’s finished — handy for anything long enough that you’ll walk away from the phone.
Worked example: 5 videos on the free version
| Step | What you see |
|---|---|
| Selected in the list | Convert 5 Videos |
| Button in the Batch Conversion sheet | Convert 3 Videos |
| Notice in the sheet | Free: max 3 files per batch. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited. |
| Converted | the first 3 videos in list order |
| Left over | 2 videos, for a second batch |
Batch runs don’t touch the single-video editor’s 3-a-day count, which is easy to miss. So on the free tier, just run a second batch for the leftover 2 videos — no need to wait a day.
Size of a batch in MP3
At 128 kbps, a minute of audio runs 0.96 MB, so five 10-minute lecture parts come to 9.6 MB each, 48 MB total. Drop to 64 kbps, fine for speech, and each part is 4.8 MB. The same five parts as WAV balloon to about 105.84 MB each — check your free storage before you batch a stack of long recordings to WAV.
What batch conversion cannot do
- It converts whole videos, full stop. For only part of a video, use the single editor and its trim handles.
- It only pulls from your photo library. Files from the Files app still go through the + button and the single editor.
- Long runs need the app open. iOS only gives background time in small doses, so stepping away for a while can stall a big batch.
- It downloads nothing. A video online has to already be on your device, and there’s no link-based conversion here.
