Download on the App Store ★ 4.6 (29)
Can it download audio from YouTube or a website?
No. It only works on videos and audio files already on your iPhone or iPad, in Photos or the Files app. There’s no link field, and it fetches nothing from the internet.
Does it need internet, and is anything uploaded?
Nothing gets uploaded: converting, trimming, merging and effects all happen on your device, and there’s no account. The conversion itself works offline. The free tier does load its ads and the consent form over the internet though, and purchases go through the App Store, so those two bits need a connection.
Which formats can it write?
M4A, MP3, WAV, CAF, AIFF, AIFC and MP4 (AAC audio), plus M4R from the Ringtone Creator. No FLAC, no OGG, no AMR, whatever you might have read elsewhere. The bitrate choice only applies to MP3: 64 and 128 kbps are free, 192, 256 and 320 kbps need Pro.
Which video formats can it open?
Whatever iOS itself can open: MP4, MOV and M4V video, plus audio files such as M4A, MP3, WAV and AIFF. MKV, WebM, FLV and most AVI files won’t open; that's a common question, and the answer is still no. A video with no sound fails with This video has no audio track to extract.
Can I make an iPhone ringtone with it?
Yes. Convert the video first, then on the Audio tab open the file and tap Ringtone. Pick up to 30 seconds and tap Export as Ringtone (.m4r). iOS won’t let any app set a ringtone directly, so you install the file yourself through Files and GarageBand. Free users get 1 ringtone a day.
Will the audio lose quality?
The sound inside a video is already compressed, so no conversion adds quality back. Every conversion first extracts the sound as AAC (M4A); WAV is an uncompressed copy of that step, not of the original track, and MP3 is a second encode on top. If you want the least-processed file, pick M4A. There’s no FLAC output.
Where do the converted files end up?
In the app’s Audio tab, where you can play them, share by AirDrop, Messages or Mail, or save a copy to Files or iCloud Drive. They stay in the app until you share or export them.
How many conversions can I do for free?
3 successful conversions a day from the video editor. The counter resets when your device’s date changes, and failed conversions and batch runs don’t count against it. The editor shows how many you have left, 2 of 3 after your first one, say.
Can I watch an ad to get more free conversions?
Don’t count on it. The app may offer an ad for an extra conversion once you hit the daily limit, but right now the extra conversion isn’t actually granted after watching. If you need more than 3 a day, use batch conversion for whole videos, or just wait for tomorrow.
What is the difference between M4A, MP3 and WAV here?
M4A is the AAC file the app makes first, so it’s the least processed and stays small. MP3 is re-encoded from that and plays on almost anything. WAV is uncompressed: about 10.58 MB a minute against 0.96 MB for a 128 kbps MP3, so only pick it when an editor or a service specifically asks for WAV.
Can I edit the song title, artist or cover?
On M4A and MP4 files, yes: open the file, tap Metadata, fill in Title, Artist and Album, then Save Metadata. Adding Artwork needs Pro. MP3 tags (ID3) are a different format and the app can’t edit those yet.
Can I delete or rename a converted file?
Not inside the app, no. There’s no delete or rename button in the Audio list, so files stay until the app itself is removed. You can set the name up front in Audio title before converting, or rename the exported copy in the Files app afterward.
Does a conversion continue if I switch apps?
Only briefly. The app asks iOS for extra time, but iOS caps it, usually under a minute. For long videos and large batches, just keep the app open until it’s done — switching away mid-batch is the most common way a run gets cut short.
Why does it ask for access to my photos?
So it can list the videos in your library on the Videos tab and read the one you pick. It never changes or deletes anything there. Say no and you’ll see Photo Library Access Needed, but you can still convert files through the + button.
Why does it ask to send notifications?
Just to tell you when a batch conversion finishes. iOS asks the first time you start a batch. Single conversions never send a notification.
Does the noise reduction clean up a noisy recording?
Only a little, and it’s worth saying that upfront rather than overselling it. Noise Reduction (Pro) is a simple filter that lowers low hum, rumble and high hiss. It’s not AI denoising, and it can’t remove other voices, traffic, wind or music overlapping the speech.
Does the dark mode follow my iPhone's setting?
No. Dark Mode in Settings is a manual switch — on forces dark, off forces light, no matter what your iPhone itself is set to.
How do I cancel or restore Pro?
Apple manages subscriptions, not the app: tap Manage Subscription in the app’s Settings, or go through your Apple Account subscriptions in iOS Settings. On a new device, open the upgrade screen and tap Restore to get Pro back.
Is there a Mac or Android version?
No. It’s iPhone and iPad only — no Mac, no Apple Watch, no Android, and no iCloud sync between devices.
