Is there a conduit bending calculator app that works in millimetres?

Yes. A 100 mm offset at 30° gives 200 mm between bends and 27 mm of shrink, typed and shown in millimetres. Offset and 90° stub-up are free; the electrical calculators stay in US units.

Switching the app to millimetres

Open Settings on the main screen and set Units to Millimeters. One switch covers every bend input, result, saved History line and PDF. The first value comes from the phone's region: a US measurement system starts in Inches, anything else in Millimeters. Check it before your first job, since it may default to Inches.

There is a second way in: tap any length field and the keypad has a Millimeters switch. It flips the same global setting, not just that field, so expect the other fields to switch too rather than stay in inches.

What the screens give you in mm

Offset asks for Bend Angle (10.0°, 22.5°, 30.0°, 45.0° or 60.0°) and Offset Depth. It returns Distance Between Bends and Shrink. 90° / Stub-Up asks for Height of the 90° Leg, Deduct and Centerline Radius and returns Distance from End to Bend and Gain. Both sit under Calculators and are free.

Offset results in millimetres, computed the way the app does it
Offset DepthAngleDistance Between BendsShrink
50 mm30°100 mm13 mm

100 mm45°141 mm41 mm
100 mm60°115 mm58 mm
150 mm22.5°392 mm30 mm

A 90° example: Height of the 90° Leg 500 mm, Deduct 127 mm, Centerline Radius 102 mm gives Distance from End to Bend 373 mm and Gain 44 mm.

A millimetre that gets lost in rounding

Inside, the app works in inches and snaps what you type to the nearest 1/32". That is 0.79 mm, and you can see it: type 75 mm for an offset depth and the app uses 74.6 mm, so at 30° it shows 149 mm between bends where the pure maths says 150.

Round numbers like 50, 100 and 150 survive. Odd ones can lose a millimetre, and it is not worth fighting. Whole millimetres are about as fine as a pencil mark on EMT anyway. Working to a drawing? Expect up to a millimetre of drift and trust the bend.

Where the marks go

It stops at spacing and shrink, like any bending calculator. For an offset, measure from the end of the conduit to the obstruction, add the shrink, mark that, then measure the distance between bends back toward the end. Say the obstruction is 600 mm from the end and the offset is 100 mm at 30°: first mark at 627 mm, second at 427 mm.

The deduct belongs to your bender, and the app has no idea which one you own. Read the take-up off the tool and type it in. The built-in Bender Profiles are a reference card, nothing more.

What costs money, and what is missing

  • Free, with ads: Offset, 90° / Stub-Up, Bend Reference, History, one project.
  • Pro: rolling offsets, kicks, saddles, segmented 90s, PDF export, no ads. Its electrical calculators (voltage drop, box fill, conduit fill, ampacity) use NEC tables, AWG, feet and inches whatever Units says.
  • Only five offset angles. A custom angle exists on Bend Reference (multiplier and shrink) but not in the calculators.
  • No springback correction, no bender shoe tables. History lines and PDFs are written in English.
  • iPhone only, and it works with no signal.

Questions and answers

Does the conduit bending calculator work for metric conduit like 20 mm or 25 mm?
The bend maths does not depend on the pipe size. You type the deduct for your own bender and the app does the rest in millimetres. There is no table by conduit diameter in the calculators.
Is there a free conduit bending calculator for iPhone?
The offset, 90° stub-up and bend reference calculators in PipeMaster are free with ads. Anything beyond them needs the Pro upgrade.
Why is my result 1 mm off my own calculation?
Typed lengths are stored to the nearest 1/32 inch, about 0.8 mm, and results are shown in whole millimetres. A round input such as 100 mm comes out exact.
Can I use another angle, such as 15°?
Not in the calculators. The Bend Reference card shows the multiplier and shrink per inch for any angle from 1° to 89°, which you apply by hand.
