What can you do with GeoProof?

Capture photos with location data on them

The app opens on the Camera tab, straight to the viewfinder. A live panel over it shows whatever fields the overlay template you picked carries: coordinates, date and time, address, altitude, GPS accuracy, compass heading, speed, project name, your own text. Seven built-in templates cover Construction, Inspection, Survey, Military, Trail Building, Agriculture and Insurance, and you can also design your own.

Coordinates come in four formats: decimal degrees, degrees-minutes-seconds, an MGRS grid reference or UTM. Every photo's Location data card lists all four at once.

Keep the work organized

• Projects hold the photos of one job site, with Attributes such as client or job number and text or voice Notes.
• Annotate lets you draw arrows, boxes, circles, lines and text on a photo without touching the original.
• The Map tab pins every geotagged photo and lets you drop waypoints and measure distance and area.
• Search finds photos by caption, project, address, automatic tag or coordinate text.

Hand over the result

Tap Export on a photo for a stamped copy to Photos, Files or Mail. From a project, Export Report builds a PDF: each photo with its caption, time, coordinates, altitude, accuracy and a verification result, plus an optional signature line.

Quick start

1. Open GeoProof, go through the short intro and tap Get Started, then allow location access while using the app.
2. On the Camera tab, wait until the GPS badge in the top-left shows a small ± figure, ideally a few metres.
3. Tap the globe pill to choose the Coordinate format, and the template pill to pick an Overlay Template.
4. Press the shutter. The photo goes into your project (the app creates one called My First Site if you have none).
5. Open the photo from the thumbnail and tap Export to share a stamped copy, or open the project and use Export Report for a PDF.

Free version and Pro

GeoProof is free to download. The free version shows ads and includes 20 camera captures per calendar month, one project, all seven templates, all four coordinate formats, one custom template, annotations, the map tools and the PDF report. Free exported photos carry a small GeoProof mark in the top-right corner and free PDFs end with a Made with GeoProof footer.

The optional Pro upgrade (monthly, annual or one-time lifetime) removes the ads, the limits and the watermark, and adds Excel, CSV, GPX and KML exports, a ZIP of stamped photos, shareable .geoproof project bundles, GPS track recording, offline maps and your company name and logo on reports. If you only shoot the occasional damage photo the free tier is plenty; the lifetime price only pays for itself once you are running more than one site at a time.

Privacy, offline use and permissions

No account, no GeoProof server. Projects and photos stay on your device. Coordinates, altitude, accuracy, heading and time come straight from the phone, so capture keeps working with the signal bars at zero. The street address, the map tiles, ads and purchases need internet.

Location is used while you use the app; the Always permission only shows up if you record a GPS track. The microphone is for voice notes, nothing else. The camera is for the photos, and the Photos permission is for importing pictures and picking a logo.

Limits and who it is not for

• Accuracy is whatever your iPhone's GPS reports, shown as ± metres. GeoProof does not improve on it.
• Units are metric only: metres, km/h, square metres and hectares.
• No box to type coordinates and convert them; formats are shown only for your position and your photos.
• The overlay never shows weather or a time zone.
• There is still no way to delete or rename a photo or a project once it exists, so name projects with care up front.
