GhostScope, the ghost-hunting kit that says what is real
Paranormal Hunter Kit & EVP
GhostScope turns your iPhone or iPad into a ghost-hunting kit: an EMF meter fed by the phone's real magnetometer, an EVP recorder, a yes/no pendulum, a decorative Spirit Radar and a log of your hunts. The app is upfront about which parts are a sensor reading and which are just for show. It is built for paranormal-curious people and friends messing around on a Friday night, not for anyone chasing proof.
What can you do with GhostScope?
Read the magnetic field
The EMF Meter shows the strength of the magnetic field around the phone, 20 times a second, as a big number in µT or mG. A 5-LED bar, a ring gauge and a live graph of the last 6 seconds make changes easy to see, and PEAK, LEVEL and EVENTS keep score while a hunt runs.
Tap Calibrate to set the current reading as zero, so the meter shows only what changes from there. Any reading at or above your spike threshold (80 µT by default) is logged as an EMF Spike with a vibration and, if you want, a short sound.
Record and replay EVP
The EVP Recorder records the microphone to an audio file on the device, with a level ring and a timer. Afterwards you can play it back anywhere from 0.25× to 2.00×, or jump straight to half speed with ½x.
Play with the radar and the pendulum
The Spirit Radar is an animated sweep with blips at random positions: a visual effect, and the screen says so. The Pendulum answers YES, NO or MAYBE from how you tilt the device for 8 seconds.
Keep a log of each hunt
Tap End & Save Session and the hunt goes to the Hunt Log with its duration, peak reading, number of samples and every event: spikes, your marks, EVP recordings and pendulum questions. The log keeps your last 100 hunts.
Quick start
- Open GhostScope and tap the EMF Meter tile.
- Tap Start Hunt. The number starts moving and the LED bar lights up.
- Hold the phone still for a moment and tap Calibrate, so the room's normal field reads as zero.
- Walk slowly. Tap Mark whenever something happens that you want to remember.
- Record an EVP from the EVP Recorder tile if you like; while the hunt runs it is added as an event.
- Back on the meter, tap End & Save Session, then open Hunt Log to review it.
Free, and what Pro adds
GhostScope is free to download and shows ads. The EMF meter, calibration, spike alerts, Spirit Radar, Pendulum, Hunt Log and one EVP recording per day are free; watching an optional ad gives one more recording.
GhostScope Pro comes as a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time Lifetime purchase. It adds unlimited EVP recordings, export of a recording as an .m4a file, a sensitivity boost above ×1.4 (up to ×2.0), and no ads. The export is the one most people end up wanting: the free tier loses an EVP clip the moment you leave the screen, which is its biggest limit.
Privacy, offline use and permissions
- No account and no sign-up. Readings, hunts and recordings stay on your device.
- The meter, recorder, radar, pendulum and log work without a connection. The free version uses the internet for ads, and purchases go through the App Store.
- The microphone is asked for only the first time you record an EVP.
- Tracking permission is asked for ads; if you decline, the app works the same and ads are not personalised.
What it cannot do
No app can detect ghosts, and GhostScope does not claim to. The phone's compass sensor measures magnetic field strength, not electric fields, Wi-Fi or cell signals, so its numbers will not match a handheld ghost-hunting meter. There is no location, photo, temperature sensor or spirit box in the app, and it runs on iPhone and iPad only.

Free and Pro
Free
- EMF Meter: live magnetometer reading in µT or mG, 5-LED level bar, gauge, PEAK / LEVEL / EVENTS, live graph, Calibrate, Mark, End & Save Session
- sensitivity boost from ×0.5 up to ×1.4
- spike alert threshold 40–150 µT with haptic and sound
- Spirit Radar (visual effect)
- Pendulum with any typed question
- Hunt Log: saved sessions (last 100), detail sheet with events, swipe to delete, Delete all
- Units, Haptics, Audio cues settings
- Spirit Box: radio-sweep game that picks words at random from a built-in list of 20 (a word comes sooner when the EMF reading rises); word history; static sound on/off
Pro
- unlimited EVP recordings (free: 1 per day + 1 per rewarded ad)
- export the current EVP recording as an .m4a file through the share sheet ('Export recording (m4a)')
- sensitivity boost above ×1.4, up to ×2.0
- no ads (banner, native, interstitial and rewarded prompts)
Pro is optional. Everything in the free list works without it.
What's new in 1.1.0
• Every reading now comes from the real magnetometer, and the app tells you where the number comes from • On a device with no magnetometer it no longer generates a signal and shows it as if it were a measurement • The tracking permission prompt was getting lost behind the opening screen and the choice was made for you — fixed • The app now runs properly on iPad • A refund removes Pro, and Pro is no longer lost when you open the app with no connection • The app could get stuck on the welcome screen the first time you opened it — fixed • The pendulum answer and the hunt log now speak your language, not English • Once your free daily EVP session is used up, the record button now shows you how to carry on
