How to Convert Acres, Hectares and Square Feet on iPhone
Measure a plot once and LandMeasure re-displays it in any of its 7 area units the moment you flip Settings > Units > Area. No separate converter app, no re-measuring, no typing a number anywhere.
Convert by measuring, not by typing a number in
A generic unit converter wants you to type a number in first, which means you measured it somewhere else and are now trusting a second tool with it. LandMeasure skips that step entirely: tap or walk the shape once, and every unit after that is a Settings toggle away, computed fresh from the same corners each time — nothing gets rounded twice.
Steps in LandMeasure
- Measure a plot with Measure Area (tap corners on the map, or walk the boundary), then tap the green checkmark to save it.
- Open Settings > Units > Area.
- Pick a unit: Square Meters (m²), Square Feet (ft²), Square Yards (yd²), Hectares (ha), Acres (ac), Square Kilometers (km²) or Square Miles (mi²).
- Go back to the project: the saved Area figure now shows in the unit you picked, instantly.
Worked example: a 2,000 m² plot in every unit
Tap a 50 m by 40 m plot (2,000 m²) once, then cycle through the units to see what each one gives back:
| Unit | Area |
|---|---|
| Square Meters (m²) | 2,000 m² |
| Square Feet (ft²) | 21,527.8 ft² |
| Square Yards (yd²) | 2,392 yd² |
| Hectares (ha) | 0.2 ha |
| Acres (ac) | 0.49 ac |
Distance numbers work the same trick — perimeter, paths, fence lines — under Settings > Units > Distance: Meters (m), Feet (ft), Kilometers (km), Miles (mi), Yards (yd).
Tips
- Switching the unit redisplays every saved measurement across every project at once — no redoing the tapping anywhere.
- The PDF Report (LandMeasure Pro) always prints hectares, square meters, acres and meters together, your Settings unit aside.
- A very small or very large result just shows 0 in square kilometers or square miles. Pick a unit scaled to the plot — acres or hectares, usually.
