StoreCard questions and answers
Straight answers to what people actually ask before and after installing StoreCard — the convenient stuff and the things it flat out cannot do.
Is there an app for all my loyalty cards?
StoreCard is built for exactly that: supermarket, pharmacy, gym, cafe and other membership cards in one list. Any card with a barcode or QR code, or a number you can type, can be saved. The only format it cannot show is Data Matrix.
Is there a limit on how many cards I can add for free?
No. The free version has no card limit. After your third card it offers to play an ad or open the Pro offer, and you can decline with Not Now and keep adding cards.
What does Pro add?
Pro adds the medium and large Home Screen widgets, the Mark as Used button with a Last Used date, the Recent filter and a custom Text Color for each card. It also removes the banner ad and the ad prompt. Everything else is free.
Does StoreCard need the internet to show my cards?
No. Cards are stored on the iPhone and the barcode is drawn by the app itself, so it works with no signal. A connection is only used to load ads for free users.
Does StoreCard sync my cards to iCloud?
No. There is no iCloud or cloud sync between your own devices, on the free or the Pro version. To copy cards to another iPhone, use Export Cards and Import Cards in Settings.
Can I add my loyalty cards to Apple Wallet with StoreCard?
No. StoreCard keeps your cards inside its own app, its widget and its Apple Watch app. It does not create Apple Wallet passes.
Which barcode formats can StoreCard show?
It draws QR codes, Code 128, Code 39, EAN-8, EAN-13, PDF417, Aztec and ITF-14. A Data Matrix code cannot be drawn, and the app shows a message instead of a symbol for a card saved that way.
What if my card has no barcode, only a number?
Tap Enter Manually, type the number in the Code field and choose a Barcode Format. If the shop's scanner does not accept it, the number is still shown on the card detail so the cashier can type it.
Why does the app want camera access?
The camera reads a card's barcode or QR code when you add it. The scan is processed on the iPhone. If you refuse, you can still add cards from a photo or by typing the number.
Why does StoreCard ask to track me?
The request is only for the ads in the free version, so they can be personalized. If you choose not to allow it, ads are still shown but they are not personalized. Pro removes the ads altogether.
Can I show a loyalty card on my Apple Watch?
Yes. Install the StoreCard Watch app and your cards are sent over from the iPhone automatically whenever you add or change one. Open a card on the Watch and hold its barcode up to the scanner.
Can I put a loyalty card on my Home Screen?
Yes. Pin cards with Add to Widget, add the StoreCard widget to the Home Screen and choose the card it shows. The small widget is free; medium and large need Pro.
How do I stop the screen from dimming at the till?
Leave Auto Brightness (100%) on in Settings, which is the default. While a card is open, the screen goes to full brightness and does not auto-lock; it returns to normal when you close the card.
What does the Most Used sort do?
Less than the name suggests. Right now Most Used orders cards by the same date as Last Used — the app never actually counts how many times you open a card. Both rely on Mark as Used, a Pro feature, so without Pro neither order has anything to sort by.
How accurate is adding a card from a photo?
Good with a flat, well-lit card and a shop StoreCard already knows; shaky with anything else. It reads the text to guess the store name, category and colours, and looks for the barcode in the same shot. Glare or an unusual logo can throw it off entirely, so check the form before you tap Add — a reflection on the plastic can make it rename a card incorrectly.
Does StoreCard work on iPad?
It is made for iPhone and Apple Watch. There is no layout designed for iPad.
What happens to my cards if I delete the app?
They are deleted with it, because they are stored only on the device. Export them first with Export Cards and keep the file somewhere safe.
Can I edit or delete a card?
Yes. Open a card and tap Edit to change its name, code, format, colours or tags, or use the bin icon to delete it. Deleting asks for confirmation and cannot be undone.
