Make a printable Wi-Fi QR code sign for guests, Airbnb or a café
Save the network in WiFi QR, open it in History, tap Export QR Code, choose PDF and what to print, then print from the share sheet. Want a designed card with your own colours and a subtitle? Build a template first. Several rooms at once? Batch Export fits up to 12 codes on one A4 page.
Who needs a Wi-Fi sign?
Holiday-rental hosts, B&Bs and small hotels leave one in every room so guests stop texting for the password at midnight. Cafés, gyms, clinics and coworking spaces put one on tables or at the counter. At home, keeping one on the fridge saves reciting the password to every visitor who walks in.
How to print a Wi-Fi QR code as a PDF sign
- Create the code on the Generate tab and tap Save to History.
- Open the History tab and tap the network.
- Tap Export QR Code. Once you've made a template, the buttons switch to Export with Template and Custom Export; Custom Export opens the same sheet.
- In Export Options, under Content, pick what shows on the card: Show Title with your own wording, Show Network Name, Show Password and Show Security Type.
- Set Export As to PDF and choose a Resolution. Standard is free; HD, Print, Ultra and Professional need Premium.
- Tap Export and choose Print, or save the PDF to Files and print it whenever.
A single PDF places the card at the top of a US Letter page. Every export counts against the free allowance — one in total, watermark included — after which it's a short ad or Premium each time.
Should the sign show the password in text?
For a guest room, printing the password under the code helps anyone whose device can't scan, like some laptops. For a public counter, leave Show Password off: people who scan still connect fine, and nobody walking past can just read it off the wall. It's off by default already.
Make a guest Wi-Fi QR code template
A template is a reusable card design. Open Settings, then Export Templates under Templates & Tools, and tap Create Template.
- Template Info: the template's name and a subtitle, say "Scan to connect" or "Free Wi-Fi for guests".
- Icon and Layout Style: Standard, Compact, Poster, Minimal or Card. Poster fits a wall; Card suits a table tent or welcome book better.
- Print Style: QR Code Color, Background Color and Text Color.
- Display Options: which lines show, and Show QR Border.
- QR Code Size: 150 to 500 points, in steps of 50.
The free plan gives you 1 custom template. Premium removes that cap and opens the Premium Gallery — 10 ready-made designs including Café, Hotel, Event, Store, Gym, Coworking and Clinic.
Several rooms or networks on one page
Batch Export, in the History toolbar, lets you pick saved networks, choose a grid and export an A4 image or PDF titled "WiFi QR Codes", each network's name sitting under its own code. Previewing it is free; exporting needs Premium. Here's how big each code actually comes out, worked from the app's own layout math (A4 is 595 x 842 points; 1 point = 0.3528 mm).
| Grid | Codes per page | QR size with names | QR size, names off |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 x 2 | 4 | 150 pt = 52.92 mm | 150 pt = 52.92 mm |
| 2 x 3 | 6 | 150 pt = 52.92 mm | 150 pt = 52.92 mm |
| 3 x 4 | 12 | 127 pt = 44.8 mm | 150 pt = 52.92 mm |
4 to 5 cm scans easily from a phone held at arm's length — about right for a room card or a table.
Tips before you print
- Keep a dark code on a light background. Light codes on dark backgrounds fail on a surprising number of phones.
- Scan the printed test page with an iPhone and an Android phone before printing a whole batch.
- Leave white space around the code. Don't let a frame or a line of text touch it.
- Laminate cards for a kitchen or pool area — a wrinkled code will stop scanning.
- Change the guest password, make a new sign. The old one stops working the second you do.
