Baby due date countdown app for iPhone: how many weeks until the due date?
Create the due date as an event and it counts down in days, hours, minutes and seconds on its own, with a free widget so the number's visible without opening the app. It only shows total days though — getting to the weeks-and-days count pregnancy tracking actually uses is one extra step, shown below.
Why count down to a due date
A due date is one day you're waiting on, and that's exactly the shape this app is built for. One event, one target, a number that drops on its own every day, a widget so you're not opening an app just to check it.
Set up the due date countdown
- Tap + on the Home screen to open New Countdown.
- There is no baby-specific category, so tap Custom and type an emoji such as 🤰 or 👶 in the Emoji field.
- Type a Title, for example Due date or the baby's working name, and use Subtitle for a note such as a week number.
- Pick the due date. Turn on Include Time and set it to 12:00 AM if you want the countdown to end right at the start of that day.
- Optionally turn on Reminders and pick an offset such as 7 days.
- Tap Save.
Worked example: from a day count to weeks and days
A due date of Friday, March 12, 2027, New York time. The app subtracts the real seconds between now and then and keeps whole days. Pregnancy is usually discussed in weeks and days though, and the app doesn't do that conversion — so divide that day count by 7.
| You check on | The app shows | As weeks and days |
|---|---|---|
| Sat, Sep 26, 2026, 9:00 AM | 166 days 15 h 0 min 0 s | 23 weeks and 5 days to go |
| Fri, Dec 25, 2026 | 77 days 0 h 0 min 0 s | 11 weeks to go |
| Fri, Feb 12, 2027 | 28 days 0 h 0 min 0 s | 4 weeks to go |
| Fri, Mar 5, 2027 | 7 days 0 h 0 min 0 s | 1 week to go |
First row reads 15 hours, not 16 — the check happens while clocks are still on daylight time, but the due date itself falls after clocks go back on November 1, so the real gap is one hour shorter than the clock faces alone suggest.
Due date widget on your Lock Screen
Every widget size is free, Lock Screen and Home Screen both. Worth adding one just so anyone in the house can glance at the phone and see the number without having to ask.
What this app does not do
- This is a day-count countdown, not a pregnancy tracker. No week-by-week fetal size info, no kick counter, no contraction timer, no appointment log.
- No Apple Health integration, no account — it can't pull or share anything with another app.
- No counting up once the date passes. It just shows Completed, and a changed due date means editing the event yourself; nothing updates on its own.
- No sync between devices. An event made on one iPhone just won't be there on an iPad or a second phone.
