CollageCraft questions, answered plainly

These are the questions people ask before installing it, plus a few that only come up after using it for a while — including the bits the store listing leaves out.

Does CollageCraft put a watermark on my collages?
No. Collages, carousel slides and social exports save with no watermark or logo on the free plan. Pro raises the resolution; it can't remove a watermark that was never there.
Do my photos get uploaded anywhere?
No. Photos load through the system picker and get processed on the device — background removal, AI Crop and AI Layout included. Nothing goes to a server, and there's no account to sign in to.
How many photos fit in one collage?
Anywhere from 1 to 30, depending on the layout. The biggest is the 30-Day grid in Fitness, with 30 slots, and the grid collection tops out at 24-photo grids. The store listing still says 2 to 20, which undersells what's actually in there.
Can I add more photos to a layout than it has slots?
No. Every layout has a fixed number of slots, shown on its card. Pick a layout made for your photo count, or load your photos and tap AI Layout to jump to one that matches.
What is free and what does Pro add?
Free covers all 288 layouts, the full editor, carousels, AI Layout, AI Crop, and HD or 2K export without a watermark. Pro adds Remove BG, 4K and Poster export, print sizes, transparent PNG and removes ads. The store text lists Smart Layout under Pro, but in the app it is free.
Does the free version have ads?
Yes. You see a banner, a native ad among templates, a full-screen ad on every third export and an occasional ad when you return to the app. With 9 exports, the full-screen ad appears after exports 3, 6 and 9.
Can I get rid of ads without paying?
For a while, yes. The Export sheet offers a short video; watching it hides every ad for 30 minutes, and the sheet shows how many minutes are left. Pro removes ads permanently.
Can I build a swipeable multi-slide post?
Yes. The Carousel tab makes a carousel of up to 10 slides that you can duplicate or delete, then Save All to Photos exports them in order as separate images ready to post.
Does background removal need internet or a new iPhone?
It needs no internet: the cutout runs on the device with Apple's Vision framework and works in airplane mode. It needs iOS 17 or later, which is also the minimum for the app, and it is a Pro feature.
How good is the automatic background removal?
Good enough to use on product shots without a second thought, as long as the subject is a person, pet or object that stands out from what's behind it. Hair against a similar colour, or a cluttered scene, leaves rough edges — not reliable enough for anything that needs printing large. Undo brings the photo back if a cutout doesn't work.
What resolution are exported collages?
The longest side is 1,080 px (HD) or 2,048 px (2K) on the free plan, and 4,096 px (4K) or 6,144 px (Poster) with Pro. The other side follows the layout's shape: a square layout at 2K saves at 2,048 x 2,048 px.
Can I print my collage?
Yes. Any export works for home printing, and Pro adds a Print Size section that places the collage on real paper sizes at 300 dpi, from 4x6 photo (1,800 x 1,200 px) to an 18x24 poster (5,400 x 7,200 px), centred on white.
Why does the app ask for Photos access?
Only to save the finished image to your library, using add-only access: it can add pictures but cannot browse or read the ones you have. Choosing photos goes through the system picker, which shares just the pictures you select.
Why does it show a tracking prompt?
The prompt comes from iOS and only decides whether the free version's ads may be personalised. If you decline, ads are still shown but not personalised, and every feature keeps working.
Are my collages saved if I close the app?
Saved projects are kept on the device in the in-app Gallery, and the Save to Gallery switch in the export sheet keeps a copy there besides Photos. There is no cloud backup, so deleting the app deletes those projects.
How many filters are there?
There are 14 filters, including Vivid, Mono, Noir, Chrome, Fade, Sepia and Bloom, plus the original look. There are also one-tap Presets that combine a filter with adjustments, and manual sliders for brightness, contrast, saturation, warmth, sharpness and vignette.
Can I undo changes?
Yes. Undo and Redo sit at the start of the editor toolbar and go back step by step through everything you did in the current session.
How do I cancel or manage Pro?
Open Settings in the app and tap Manage Subscription, which opens Apple's subscription manager. Restore Purchases in the same place brings Pro back on a new device with the same Apple account.
