How to make a travel photo collage

Open Templates, tap Travel, pick a layout — Trip Grid, Postcard, World Tour, whichever fits the photo count. Fill it, add a place name with Text, export. Every travel layout is free, no watermark, and covers more ground than Instagram's own carousel for trip posts.

Why make a travel collage instead of posting one photo at a time?

A trip is never one picture — it's the flight, the view, the food, the street at night. One collage puts several of those moments into a single post, and a shaped layout (a passport page, a postcard, a film strip) tells people it's a travel photo before they've read a word of the caption.

A crown on a card still doesn't mean anything here — every travel layout opens, edits and exports free, same as everywhere else in the app.

How to make a travel collage, step by step

  1. Open the Templates tab and tap Travel in the category row.
  2. Pick a layout for how many photos you have: Postcard for 3, Trip Grid for 4, World Tour for 9.
  3. Tap the photo-plus icon and choose the photos in the order you want them to read.
  4. Tap AI Crop so faces and landmarks stay centred in each slot, or drag and pinch a slot by hand.
  5. Tap BG for a plain colour behind the gaps, or leave the default so the photos stay the focus.
  6. Add the place and date with Text, or a passport-style stamp with Stickers.
  7. Tap the share icon, choose Quality, and tap Save to Photos.

Which layout fits which trip?

  • A weekend or a single day: Weekend Away or Postcard — 3 to 4 photos, read at a glance.
  • A city break of 2 to 4 days: City Break or Destination in portrait, good for a feed post.
  • A whole trip or a multi-country run: World Tour (9 photos) or Vacation Wall (12), or split it across the Carousel tab instead, a slide per day.
  • A themed keepsake: Passport or Scrapbook Trip, page-like, with room for a stamp or a caption.

Where this trips people up

  • Loading more photos than the layout has slots. Extras get left out, not stacked — check the slot count on the card first, or tap AI Layout for the closest match.
  • Mixing a portrait and a landscape photo into slots built for one shape. Crop or rotate first so neither gets an odd crop.
  • Using World Tour's 9 slots for a weekend trip with 3 or 4 photos. Pick something smaller instead of leaving slots empty.

Questions and answers

Are the travel layouts free?
Yes, all of them. Crown or no crown on the card, every layout in Travel opens and exports free with no watermark.
Can I make a collage for a whole trip, not just one photo set?
World Tour (9 photos) and Vacation Wall (12) fit more of a trip into one collage. For a day-by-day version instead, the Carousel tab holds up to 10 slides.
Can I add the place name or date to a travel collage?
Yes — type a caption with Text and drag it onto the layout; Stickers adds small graphics like a stamp on top.
Does a travel collage need internet to make?
No, building and exporting works fully offline. The connection only gets used for ads and the purchase list.
