How to count how many cigarettes you smoke a day
Log every cigarette the moment you light it: one tap on +1 in Cigarette & Vape Counter. Most people underestimate their count by a cigarette or two a day until they actually log a full week. After a week, Stats turns those taps into your real daily average, your lowest and highest day, and whether the number is going up or down.
Why count instead of guessing?
Ask a smoker how many cigarettes they smoke a day and most answer with a round number, usually the number they would like it to be. A counter replaces that guess with a record of every cigarette and the time you smoked it.
That record is the starting point for everything else: the real cost, the time between cigarettes, and a realistic target if you decide to cut down.
How do you set up the cigarette counter?
- Open the app. At What do you want to track?, choose Cigarettes (or Both if you also vape).
- At Set Up Cost Tracking, enter Pack Price and Cigarettes Per Pack, or tap Set up later.
- On Home, find Quick Add. Tap
+1for each cigarette,+5if you are catching up, or Custom for any number from 1 to 99. - The Today card updates at once, together with spent today and the timer since your last cigarette.
What if you forget to log one?
Tap Details under Quick Add. On the Log Entry screen, set Quantity and move Time back to when you actually smoked, then tap Save. Future times are not allowed, and a back-dated entry counts at its real time in the timer, History and Stats.
Logged one by mistake? Open History, pick the Date, and swipe left on the entry to delete it. Entries cannot be edited, so delete and re-log if the time is wrong.
How do you read your daily number?
Open Stats and keep 7 Days selected. The Daily Consumption chart has one bar per day, and Summary shows the key figures. Every calendar day in the window counts, including days with zero.
| Figure in the app | Value | How it is worked out |
|---|---|---|
| Daily counts, oldest to today | 14, 12, 13, 11, 10, 9, 8 | Your taps, grouped by day |
| Total | 77 | Sum of the 7 days |
| Daily Avg | 11.0 | 77 ÷ 7, one decimal |
| Best Day | 8 | Lowest day |
| Worst Day | 14 | Highest day |
| Trend | Down 30% from previous period | First 3 days average 13.0, last 3 days average 9.0 |
The trend compares the first half of the window with the second half, so it answers a simple question: is this week ending lower than it started?
History: one day in detail
History lists every entry of the chosen date with its quantity, time, trigger icons, note and cost. The Summary at the top gives Total Count, Total Cost and Top Trigger for that day. In Both mode you can filter by All, Cigarettes or Vape.
Tips and common mistakes
- Log at the moment you light up, not at the end of the day. Counting from memory is exactly the guess you are trying to replace.
- Use Details when a cigarette had a clear reason, such as With Coffee or Stress.
+1is faster but records no trigger. - Give it a full week before you judge your average. Weekdays and weekends are often very different.
- The free version shows the last 7 days on screen. Older entries are kept, and Export as CSV includes all of them.
