How to print passport photos at home, several on one sheet
To print passport photos at home, put several copies on one sheet at their real size and cut along the guide lines — printing one photo at a time wastes paper and ink. Passport Photo AI's print sheet fits 6 US 2 × 2 photos on a 4×6 inch print or 30 UK 35 × 45 mm photos on A4, and exports the sheet as JPEG, PNG or a to-scale PDF at 300 DPI.
Why a print sheet beats printing one photo
Many applications ask for two printed copies. One 4×6 print from a photo kiosk gives you several, plus spares for a later visa or ID. A sheet also sidesteps the most common home-printing mistake: a single photo that comes out the wrong size because the file carried no resolution information, which happens often on a printer with no DPI setting of its own.
How many photos fit on each paper size?
| Photo | 4×6 inch | A4 | Letter | A5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| US, India (2 × 2 in) | 6 | 20 | 20 | 8 |
| UK and most of Europe (35 × 45 mm) | 8 | 30 | 36 | 16 |
| Canada (50 × 70 mm) | 3 | 16 | 12 | 4 |
| Spain (26 × 32 mm) | 15 | 63 | 64 | 30 |
The 4×6 inch sheet runs edge to edge, because photo labs print it borderless. A4, Letter and A5 keep a 3 mm safe margin on each side instead, since most home printers can't print to the very edge. The photos sit centered and touching, so a single cut separates two of them at once.
How to make a print sheet in the app
- Take or import your photo and tap Use This Photo on Photo Check.
- On the export screen, under Print Sheet, pick 4×6 inch (most common), A4, Letter (US) or A5. The preview shows how many photos fit.
- Choose JPEG, PNG or PDF under Export Format.
- Tap Export Print Layout. Without Pro, you can tap Watch an ad to unlock the print sheet once instead of upgrading, when an ad is available.
- Use the share sheet to print, save to Files or send the sheet to a photo lab.
Printing at the right size
- Print at actual size with scaling turned off. Fit to page or scale to fit shrinks the photos.
- The PDF is built to scale: a 4×6 inch sheet is a 432 × 288 point page, exactly 6 × 4 inches.
- Use matte or glossy photo paper; plain paper is often rejected for a printed passport photo.
- Check one photo with a ruler before cutting: a US photo must measure 2 inches, a UK one 35 × 45 mm.
- Cut along the light gray Cut guides included · prints at exact size lines, just inside the line.
Printing a single photo for free
Without Pro you can still export one photo as a PDF and print it at actual size — the PDF page is exactly the photo's print size, one page to one photo. Fine for a single application, slower if you need several.
